I was given three bottles of whisky : J&B Rare (in the tin), Chivas 12, and JW Red. The gifter believes he purchased them in the 1970s but is not certain. Is there a means of determining the bottling date and therefore the approximate value? If they are "worth anything" I will likely flog them and put the $ toward other expenses.

Two choices:
1. Ask Joe Hyman, spirits auctions specialist for Skinner Auctions. He usually attends Whisky Wednesdays at Julios.

2. Contact Skinner Auctions in Marlboro. They often have some sort of "open house" day for appraisals.
