Within this Forum are posts from the 2009 Challenge.

It has been proposed that in late 2014, we start a 2015 Whiskey Challenge with judging and winners announced at a January 2015 Burns Supper to honor Robbie Burns.

We would need to write 'new rules' like can you start with a 2nd, 3rd, 12th fill cask? Is anything Off Limits? Is simple vatting permitted? Minimum time in cask? Are their any required ingredients? Do you have to start with 'new make' and if yes Whose?

People entering the challenge might want to do a Test Batch to season their casks?

Maybe we need a Lord High Brouhaha like Third Gate to be the Potentate... or maybe Dr. E could be recruited to be the Whiskey Master... or that rascal(sic)... duplicitous Brandal Janus?

What would be the most FUN?

There may never be another time... it may have been The One and The Only.

My thought was merely to roll out the idea of another Challenge... and to see if there is any traction.

I would love to see some variety of a L&K Burns Supper Jan 2015. Having it be the culmination of a Challenge was a just a thought.

The last Challenge ended on Repeal Day... Dec 5th. That is right on top of Thanksgiving and sandwiched with December holidays.

L&K has grown... so there could be several categories... including Cask-Less - blending single malts... we would probably want different rules.

It was JUST a thought.
